FAQs
Do you cover weddings all across Ireland?
Yes. For locations further than a 90-minute drive from where I live in Dublin, there is an additional fee to cover petrol and overnight accommodation.
How do I book you? What’s the process like?
Super straightforward 😄
Step 1: Drop me a message telling me your wedding date and your venue (this must be fully booked and locked in before you can book me). It also helps if you tell me a bit about yourself and your partner.
Step 2: I will let you know if I’m available or not, and let you know any potential additional travel fees required. You can ask any questions you have and we can chat a bit to make sure we’re a good fit.
Step 3: When you’re happy to proceed with booking, drop me a message to let me know you’d like to book. Please send me your email address (if not already provided). You then pay the non-refundable booking deposit (currently €499), which is payable by card or by Revolut (details are included in the invoice email that I will send you). Once that’s paid, you will receive your receipt, and we’ll be officially booked in and ready to go!
Step 4: About 6 weeks before the wedding, I will email you your wedding questionnaire which covers all of the finer details about the wedding day itself, and you can request specific shots, etc. on that. In your own time, you fill that in and send it back to me. From the questionnaire, we put together a provisional timeline and requested shot-list for the day (including the group shots), which helps the day to run more smoothly and maximises the amount of time you have available to enjoy the celebrations! Finally, the remaining balance of the payment is due 4 weeks prior to the wedding.
Step 5: Have the best day of your life on your wedding! 😄
How long will it take to receive my photos/videos?
For photography, I send a small sneak-peak gallery within 48-72 hours of the wedding, which usually has 10-20 photos in it.
Typically, the full photo gallery will be received within 8-12 weeks from the wedding.
Videos will generally be received within 12-24 weeks of the wedding.
Are you insured?
Yes, I have full Public Liability Insurance.
Do you put watermarks on photos?
No, never. The last thing you'd want is my name spread across all your favourite photos from your big day!
I would prefer if my wedding photos weren’t shared publicly on websites or social media, is this possible?
Of course. If you’d like your images not to be shown publicly on my website or Instagram, just drop me a message and let me know.
Do you dress in Black Tie like the wedding guests?
I typically wear a black shirt with rolled-up sleeves, beige chino-esque trousers, and hipster-y brown shoes. This style is just the right balance for me between professionalism and pragmatism, blending in enough that I don't stick out like a sore thumb, while also being comfortable enough to allow me to work an 11-hour day.
I also often have shorter hair in the summer and let it grow long in the winter (just a heads up - if that's a problem for you, we might not be a good fit for each other).
How long do formal photos take on the wedding day?
Usually, we set aside one hour for the formal shots on the day. Within this hour, Newlyweds Portraits typically take 15-20 minutes, Family Photos typically take 20-25 minutes, and Wedding Party Photos typically take 15-20 minutes. For the group photos, we make sure to have these fully planned in advance to get through them efficiently (and, most importantly, to quickly get everyone back to enjoying their cocktails and snacks during the drinks reception!)
We usually do these right after the receiving line/meet and greet (which is right after the ceremony), this means we get the photos while everyone is still looking their fanciest (in other words, pre-booze and pre-food smeared across clothes!) and this clears up time for you to enjoy the second half of your drinks reception, focusing more on candid, real-life moments of you having a blast with your friends and family, rather than everything being posed.
Do you create flat lays for details?
I don't create flat lays, but instead focus on the details being put on in the morning or worn over the course of the day. For couples who want flat lay-type shots, I am happy to capture them, but I request that the couple themselves (or their wedding party) assemble the flat lay to their liking on the morning and have it ready for me to capture upon arrival.
Do you accept Shot Lists?
The most important thing to me is that my couples are authentically celebrating their love and enjoying their special day. This is what creates the most beautiful moments and the most important memories, which in turn become the best photos.
With wedding-day shot lists, the day becomes a box-checking exercise where the couple is constantly worrying, "Did we get this shot? Did we get that shot? What's the next shot on the list that we need to capture?" Couples become fatigued with photos/videos and feel like they're just going through the motions, rather than truly celebrating the most important day of their lives.
And for the photographers/videographers, if we're looking down at a list all day checking off boxes, we're not looking around us and being present - we're missing the real moments that we should be capturing; the spontaneous laughs, the tears, everything in between. It creates a worse experience for everyone on the day, and a worse end product as a result.
So no, I don't accept shot lists.
Think of it like this: you wouldn't walk into your favourite restaurant and hand the chef a recipe. You would trust the chef to do their job and to do it well.
With that being said, on the wedding questionnaire that I send my couples 6 weeks prior to the wedding, there is the option to include two or three specific requested shots, though no shots can ever be guaranteed as weddings are fluid events and plans can (and often do) change on the day.
However, my photography clients and I do prepare a *group* photo list in advance of the day together. This is specifically (and exclusively) for the family formal groupings and the wedding party groupings.
Outside of the family and wedding party groupings, you'll have to trust (just as you would trust the chef at your favourite restaurant) that I will be there to capture the day as authentically and completely as possible based on my work that you've seen. No list. Just the authentic moments of your special day captured as they happen.
Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
Absolutely! Some of my favourite weddings have been LGBTQ+ 😄
Do you cover short 1-hour or 2-hour weddings?
No, I currently only offer one full-day package which provides up to 10 hours’ coverage over an 11-hour window.
Do you require a vendor meal on the wedding day?
I don’t require it contractually, but I do always appreciate the offer to grab a bite of food at the bar (pub grub, as we say) to be put on the couple's tab. I never sit down for the meal with the rest of the guests as I typically need to back up photos/videos and recharge camera batteries in my car during dinner time.
Do you provide physical Photo Albums?
I don’t currently provide physical photo albums in any of my packages, just digital photo galleries. There are lots of websites dedicated to providing physical printed albums, coffee table books, etc. at great prices and great quality, so I focus instead solely on providing the digital photos (which, if you’d like, you can send to the photo album services).
However, you can purchase physical prints of individual photos on-demand from your online gallery. Simply click the photo in your gallery that you like, then click the shopping bag icon in the top-right corner, and it will show you all of the options available for printing in different sizes. That is handled by a separate company, but they physically print the photo and send it to your door by post.
Who owns the rights to the photos/videos from the wedding?
Under Irish law, the person who takes the photos/videos is the exclusive owner of the copyright to the photos, unless specifically agreed and stated otherwise in writing. My clients are permitted to share all photos and videos for personal usage. This means you can share the material with friends and family, on social media, etc. to your heart’s extent - no need to ask for permission. But if you decided to take that material and tried to sell it to a stock photo or stock video company to try make money from it (commercial usage), this would be in violation of copyright. For further information, see the Copyright and Related Rights Act, 2000.
Do you provide hybrid photo-video coverage?
I can provide photography for the day, or videography for the day. I don't currently provide the two together simultaneously in a combined package.
Do you charge for overtime?
My packages currently allow for 10 hours of coverage over an 11-hour period. To make sure we don't run overtime on the day, we plan out our schedule in advance to facilitate everything within a reasonable timeframe. However, if proceedings are running late on the wedding day and require coverage beyond the agreed-upon 11-hour window, there will be an additional hourly fee of €250 at the start of each additional hour.
Do you offer aerial drone coverage?
For guaranteed aerial coverage, it's best to hire dedicated drone operators with heavy-duty drones that are equipped to handle the elements, brave the storms, etc. to pop in for an hour or two on the day.
If weather/venue/time/local regulations permit, I might grab one or two aerial establishing shots at the beginning of the day. However, given that there are so many obstacles here in Ireland to getting drone shots (including even just a small drizzle of rain or a gust of wind that would destroy my drone), it's not a deliverable that I offer in any of my packages. Just an occasional bonus that might happen if the conditions are right for it.
Is your work more candid/documentary or more posed/editorial?
For videography, my work is 99% candid/documentary. I'm there to capture and document the day as it happens rather than to set up and direct scenes as though people are actresses/actors on a film set. I sometimes give occasional prompts to help people feel more comfortable around the camera if I notice someone is struggling or feeling awkward (like me when I have cameras pointed in my direction!), but I try to capture the day as authentically and as real as possible.
For photography, it's closer to 85% candid/documentary. There are sections of the day where it's necessary for the photographer to step in directly to set up the shots - to make the shots rather than just take the shots. This is mainly during the newlyweds portraits, the family photos and the wedding party photos. Even then, I try to focus less on setting up rigid poses and more on giving people gentle prompts to help elicit genuine emotions and put people at ease in front of the camera so they can really just be themselves. For the rest of the day, I'm blending in with the wedding party and the guests and just capturing the craic as it unfolds :)
